Alkis Avgoustis

The Engineer who turned Syntagma Square into a beach

If you spot a Civil Engineer (MEng University of Manchester) setting up beach volleyball courts on marble pavements and city squares, you’ve likely caught Alkis in action.

Since 2020, as the Technical Manager for the Hellenic Volleyball Federation (EOPE), he has achieved the impossible: transforming Syntagma and Aristotelous Squares into high-spec temporary arenas for the Panhellenic Masters.

Balancing structural studies at G9 Engineering and the management South BV, Alkis oversees everything — from international competitions to the finest detail in the sand. He is the only person who can discuss construction site coordination and transition tags in the same breath, proving that organizing an event requires solid foundations, perfect timing, and absolutely no fear of heights.
